Clanwilliam is one of the ten oldest towns in South Africa and obviously have several attractive and interesting historical buildings. During August and September the area is transformed into a floral showcase whilst an annual ten-day wild flower show is presented in the Old Dutch Reformed Church. The Ramskop wild flower garden contains a variety of more than 350 species of cultivated wild flowers. A visit to the Rooibos tea factory is also worthwhile.

Wupperthal was established by German Rhenish missionaries in 1830. The road between Clanwilliam and Wupperthal passes the grave of Louis Leipoldt, well known poet. The scenery is exceptional for its rock formations. Attractions include a shoe factory and a Rooibos tea factory, historic church buildings and a popular off-road 4x4 route.
